\nUp until the end of the last decade, Old Mahabalipuram Road or OMR as everybody likes to call it, was a hushed suburb on the outskirts of Chennai. Due to the availability of abundant land and proximity to residential areas like Adyar, Velachery and Thiruvanmiyur, the Tamil Nadu government instituted one of the most ambitious projects of building a full-fledged IT corridor along this stretch. This commenced the face-lift of OMR and it has never remained the same ever since.
